Re:     Pending purchase of 435 acres for motocross park

Dear Mr. Straviski,

This letter is being written to request that Forest Systems, LLC reconsider its participation in the purchase of land along the Mt. Loop Highway east of Granite Falls for the purpose of a motocross racing facility. Your company has consistently demonstrated a commitment to responsible forest land stewardship and we believe that the referenced development is contrary to those values for many reasons including:

·       The project is opposed by virtually all adjacent landowners and residents, as construction of such a facility will have a major impact on the noise levels in the area and quality of life. The area provides recreational opportunities for thousands of hikers, hunters and fishermen annually and these activities would also be impacted.

·       There are two Threatened and Endangered Species living on and near the proposed site, in addition to dozens of other species of birds, mammals and plants that would be impacted by the drastic change in noise levels and environmental quality. We have made the County Planning Department aware of these concerns also.

As owners of land that would be impacted by the proposal, we are committed to being good stewards and preventing activities that may permanently harm both the quality of the environment and the wildlife that depends on it. We are asking that you join us in this effort. Enclosed are copies of petitions gathered over the past few weeks by our members. These were also  submitted to County and government officials.

Respectfully,
